Regulation, Ethics and Standards
In Australia, the physiotherapy profession’s National Registration and Accreditation Scheme is regulated by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and the Australian Physiotherapy Council
The Board has developed a series of codes and guidelines to guide the expectations on professional conduct and practice and had adopted the Code of Conduct for registered health professionals. All physiotherapists (including students) are bound by these standards and codes.
Education and Training
Accreditation of degrees in physiotherapy is managed by the Australian Physiotherapy Council.
The Assessment of Physiotherapy Practice (APP) is a valid and reliable instrument for the workplace based assessment of professional practice of physiotherapy students. It is now used nationally to assess the performance of physiotherapy students on practice placements.
