Regulation, Ethics and Standards
Podiatrists are a registered profession under the National Law and regulated by the Podiatry Board of Australia.
The Board has developed a series of codes and guidelines to guide expectations on professional conduct and practice, and had adopted the Code of Conduct for registered health professionals. All podiatrists (including students) are bound by these standards and codes.
Education and Training
The Accreditation Standards for Podiatry Programs in Australia and New Zealand summarises the curriculum and standards required for an approved program of study, and accreditation of degree programs in podiatry is completed by an independent accreditation committee established by the Podiatry Board of Australia.
Podiatrists interested in providing clinical placements and/or supervising podiatry students at their facility or practice should contact local universities with accredited degree programs to establish the requirements for clinical placements
