Clear expectations and being as prepared as possible alleviates nerves, so before your placement read up on some key topic areas relevant to the setting, organise your transport nice and early and speak with your clinical educator to make sure you know everything you need to know.

Each university usually also provides a student handbook describing general placement information and what to do if things aren’t going the way you thought they would. Read through this before commencing placement.

Queensland Health has developed resources to guide allied health clinical placements, including a section on 'Allied Health Student Health and Well being' that provides guidelines for health services who are planning placements, as well as useful fact sheets for students
